Transform Your Home with Flowers

Flowers have the ability to transform a lackluster space into one that is beaming with personality.

I love flowers – from growing to picking and arranging, flowers make me happy. In my column “Details” in the March issue of Romantic Homes Magazine, I outline the various ways you can display flowers in your home.

 

 

I aim for repetition in my displays. Use matching containers that are the same size and color, or stay in the same color family but use different sizes. Use colored glass in a sunny spot and the light will diffuse the colors throughout your room.

In the above photo, I placed the same pink mason jars in front of my dark antique paintings and the color becomes more saturated while the white flowers pop against the dark canvasses.

 

 

 

Put containers of flowers on your stairs.  They are there to greet you whether you are coming or going.

 

 

 

Switch out that standard glass vase for an old French garden urn. I placed a small container of water in the base of the urn first.

 

 

Here’s the same urn, sitting on my favorite pink vintage chair.

 

And my all time favorite way to display flowers – in my pink wellies.
