My Great Find
{that’s my table on the right, cutest dog in the world front and center}
I told you about a fantastic hall table I purchased for a song; repainted it and then added vintage glass knobs, and everything was happily ever after. Well, I was hiding a little secret. The table was about two inches too short! When I set it up in my foyer the the left side could not be pushed back flush against the wall because the stair tread was in the way.
{Oops}
See what I mean? And it was pretty obvious as you walked in the front door what was going on. The table needed to be fixed in order for it to fit
flush against the wall. But how?
I began a search online for table legs and came up with the perfect solution: 6 inch table legs from Home Depot for $2.96 each.
{they are just perfect!}
The table legs were unfinished so I primed and painted them the same color as the table.
{There is about a two inch difference between the old and new}
I was really hoping the legs that were currently attached were just screwed on, but that was not the case. They ran the entire length of the table. This was not what I had in mind when it came to an “easy” fix. I had no choice but to saw off the existing feet.
So I {nervously} did just that. It took no time at all. Then I drilled a starter hole in the wood so I could screw the new legs into the base. I also used a dab of wood glue for extra strength.
{Yes that’s really me drilling. People that know me know this is true}
{Those are my pink tennis shoes for proof}
{voila!}
