The Meaning of September

September 5, 2014

For most of us, September brings an abundance of different emotions.  For the little ones, it means an end to Summer (please don’t close the pool!).  For their parents, it means Freedom – be it from the babysitter who has been watching them all summer or, if you stay home with your kids- Freedom from the non-stop activities and crafting (and picking up) .  It brings the promise of Fall, and along with that cooler weather, pumpkins, making plans for Thanksgiving, raking leaves, family.

Whether you have kids or not, September will always remind us of “back-to-school.”  You see (and hear) the yellow buses in the early morning hours on their runs with precious cargo – the future of this great land.  It takes you back to when you were in school and brings back the excitement of that first day.  My mom refers to cooler weather as “back-to-school” weather.  I do too.

No matter what you feel during the month of September, you can’t deny that it brings back emotions from long ago.  It is a good month to make a change, a fresh start, a new beginning.

What does September mean to you?

HI Gay, This rings so true for me as well, our youth. I loved playing in the leaves, with a thick, warm sweater on, seeing the crab apples covering my entire backyard, and mom calling me in for supper ( something cozy like beef stew).
Your blog is so lovely, and your photos, picture perfect!
